Our Services
Tomasello Appraisals & Advisory is a full-service firm specializing in personal property appraisals and collection advisory for private clients, corporations and institutions. Being an independent appraisal and advisory firm, we are able to provide unbiased and objective valuations and advice. We specialize in estate tax, insurance scheduling, financial planning, equitable distribution and non-cash charitable donation appraisal reports as well as creating collection inventories and providing advisory services for downsizing, acquisitions or deaccessions of your collections. We can appraise everything from fine art and furniture to silver, ceramics, jewelry and collectibles. Whether it is a single item or an entire collection spread over multiple locations, we can manage it all while offering a competitive fee structure. Our reports are written in compliance with the Appraisal Foundation's Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and to meet the standards set forth by the Appraisers Association of America and the International Society of Appraisers.
Appraisals
We offer a wide range of Appraisal Services to meet client needs, including estate tax, financial planning, insurance scheduling and non-cash charitable donation. Our team has the expertise to value a wide range of property from fine art and jewelry to books and vehicles.
No matter the appraisal type, the process begins with a discussion to determine the project’s size and scope. This typically includes either sharing images of the items to be appraised and/or a complimentary walk-through. Once the project scope has been identified, you will receive a proposal with a breakdown of both time and cost for your approval.
The next step is for our appraisers to inspect and photograph the collection then start our research and report writing. The comprehensive report will include: the purpose of the appraisal; the valuation metric and date; the appraisers’ credentials; the inspection process and research methodology; a rationale of the markets selected; a detailed description, photograph/s, and valuation of each item; the resources consulted; and a glossary of select terms. Typically, you can expect a draft of the report within 4-6 weeks* after the inspection.
*turnaround times are based on the size and scope of the project
Collection Management
Whether you have an established or burgeoning collection, we can customize our strategy and inventory system to fit your Collection Management needs. We can service private and corporate collections, both large and small. Depending on the size of the collection and number of locations to be inspected, we provide an estimate for both time and cost. We can typically have the inventory completed within 2-4 weeks* of the last inspection.
Inventories can be organized by artist, item type, or location. Each item will contain an image, artist/maker, date created, measurements, brief description, and any provenance/acquisition and exhibition history along with the item’s location in your collection. By including all of this data, the inventory can easily be converted into an appraisal for insurance, financial planning, marketable cash value, equitable distribution or non-cash charitable donation. Should you wish to sell any items in your collection, our team can use the information from the inventory to create listings to share with prospective auction houses, dealers or potential private buyers.
